Alicia Asin Pérez

Alicia Asín is CEO and co-founder of Libelium, the wireless sensor hardware provider, creators of Waspmote, a modular, open source sensor platform for the Internet of Things (IoT). Alicia is a computer engineer focused on how IoT can change our world, starting with Smart Cities and smart agriculture. She is a frequent speaker at international conferences on issues related to Smart Cities, wireless sensor networks and IoT. After the Mobile World Congress 2016, The Financial Times talks about Libelium as one of the Spain’s baby unicorns referring to its revolutionary technological developments in the country.

Alicia is recognized for achievements in business and technology: she was named best business manager in Foreign Trade (ADEA 2011); she was awarded the highest recognition for her paper on Computer Architecture (WCAE 2007, San Diego). Alicia is the first woman to receive the National Young Entrepreneur Award at the 2014 meeting of the Spanish Confederation of Young Entrepreneurs (CEAJE). Last autumn, Alicia was recognized with Made of Talent prize by Marca España which recognition attempts to give public recognition to ten Spaniards who, in their particular areas of expertise, contribute to enhance the reputation, development and image of Spain.

Alicia holds a master’s degree in computer engineering from the Polytechnic Center, University of Zaragoza, and is a graduate of the Cambridge Judge Business School and ESADE.
