Thu 6th Oct 13:40 to 14:10
Simplifying Enterprise Networking through Software-Defined Network Orchestration
Enterprise networks are complex. Moreover, they were designed and deployed to meet a specific set of business requirements at a specific point in time. But, the adoption of cloud services, new business applications and intensifying security policies, among other factors, require IT organisations to continuously deploy configuration changes. Therefore, enterprises are looking for better ways to automate the management of their networks while still leveraging existing capabilities, optimising performance and reducing operational risk through standardisation and best-practice architectures.
Software-Defined Networking (SDN) promises to provide network configuration management via software to make a network more agile and adaptable. With SDN, network configurations can be managed centrally, and devices can be reprogrammed as needed on the fly, optimising hardware infrastructure and minimising operational spending.
This session will discuss extending SDN from data centres to the WAN.
